Empowering Choice and Comfort: Cappagh Browne Rolls Out New Women’s PPE Catalogue
Category: News, People
Introduction
Led by April Batchelor, SHEQ Lead, the initiative builds on our long-standing values of equality and diversity. While a basic women’s PPE offering has existed for some time, the new catalogue reflects a complete review and expansion, driven by feedback from our female colleagues and a growing number of women across the business.
“We identified a gap in our PPE provision,” April explains. “Women were relying on men’s gear that didn’t fit properly. Now, we’ve created a range that’s not only compliant but comfortable, stylish, and fit for purpose.”

The catalogue now includes:
- Multiple styles of women’s trousers, including stretch, waterproof, and cargo options
- A wider selection of boots from trusted brands
- Warmth and comfort items such as soft-shell jackets, thermals, and eco sweatshirts
- Gloves in smaller sizes to suit all hand shapes
Importantly, the PPE selection process is collaborative. Items are trialled, reviewed, and refined based on real-world feedback. This ensures that what’s offered is truly personal, because Personal Protective Equipment should be just that: personal.

The rollout has already made a positive impact. New starters have expressed surprise and appreciation at receiving gear tailored to them. “It’s something they have to wear, but now it’s also something they want to wear,” says April.
The catalogue also reflects our sustainability goals, with many items made from EcoViz recycled materials, reducing emissions and environmental impact.
This initiative aligns with our SHEQ strategy and our motto “Safety Starts With You” – empowering individuals to take ownership of their safety with gear that supports them physically and psychologically.
As April puts it: “Investing in PPE is investing in people. It’s about more than compliance, it’s about comfort, morale, and inclusion.”
