Celebrating World Water Day with Purpose at Cappagh Browne
Category: Environment, News
Introduction
At Cappagh Browne, safeguarding water isn’t a once‑a‑year message — it’s at the heart of what we deliver. Our people work tirelessly to protect, improve and maintain our wastewater infrastructure, and deliver innovative solutions to reduce the impact of storms on the network. Here are just some of the ways we’re making a difference in partnership with @southernwater
Clean Rivers & Seas Programme & Wastewater Network Services
We’re committed to reducing storm overflows and enhancing the health of our rivers, waterways and coastlines. Through proactive maintenance, rapid response to emergency network issues, and innovative network interventions, our teams help ensure cleaner environments for future generations.

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS)
As extreme weather becomes more frequent, our work in designing, delivering and maintaining SuDS plays a crucial role in managing stormwater sustainably. These systems help reduce flood risk, increase biodiversity, and improve water quality — making our communities more resilient.
Surface Water Separation
By separating surface water from foul sewers, we’re helping reduce pressure on wastewater networks, cutting overflow risks, and protecting natural watercourses. This reduces storm overflows and improves overall network resilience.

Protecting Bathing Water Quality
From coastal protection works to pollution prevention, our teams are directly involved in ensuring cleaner, safer bathing waters. Through the design, installation and maintenance of screens that protect beaches from plastics and debris, combined with network maintenance, our efforts support healthier coastal ecosystems, helping to conserve local communities and tourism.

As we mark World Water Day, we want to thank our dedicated teams, partners, and clients who share our commitment to delivering a cleaner, more sustainable water future.
Together, we’re not just maintaining essential infrastructure — we’re protecting one of our most important natural resources.
Here’s to accelerating action, driving innovation, and ensuring water for all.
